What is RecordAF?
RecordAF, Registry on Cardiac rhythm disorders, an international, observational, prospective survey assessing the control of Atrial Fibrillation provided a unique opportunity to expand our knowledge of management of atrial fibrillation by cardiologists in day-to-day clinical practice, as opposed to conventional clinical trials.
The RecordAF registry provided an in-depth understanding of AF population characteristics and the way AF patients are currently managed in terms of treatment strategy. By including recently diagnosed paroxysmal and persistent AF patients, RecordAF allowed a reliable assessment of the impact of actual treatment strategies on clinical outcomes. This observational, 12-month prospective registry, started in June 2007 and recruited 5604 eligible patients from 21 countries. RecordAF builds on the valuable experiences of the Euro Heart Survey. RecordAF had a detailed comprehensive data collection strategy. It was a worldwide survey and investigator recruitment was randomized.
